The SMEG Revolution

The SMEG Revolution is upon us. Yes, it’s true. Hold on to your hats people. For those of you interested in the interior design world, those that follow interior design blogs, or, heck, even just hang out on Pinterest sometimes, you’re familiar with the SMEG refrigerator. It’s the vintage, candy-colored appliance of your dreams. And it costs a pretty penny to make your kitchen look like it has hopped out of the 1950s, so, for most of us, it has always been very much a dream. Well, dream no more my design friends! Your kitchen appliances are so close to being candy-colored, you should almost be able to taste it!

That’s right, SMEG is in the process of launching their small appliance line. Do you know what that means? One day you could be popping toast into your SMEG toaster and pouring tea from your minimalist SMEG tea kettle! All my retro kitchen dream could be a reality!

Personally, I think I’m going to start saving my pennies for a toaster, but I also need a stand mixer (hint, hint, Christmas is coming). So we’ll see what happens, if anything. But what I love about these designs is that they’re so charmingly 50s in the sense that they all kind of look like space ships. It’s the future from the 50s standpoint and it’s awesome. That retro space vibe, like you see when watching the Jetsons, is so kitschy and fun.

UPDATE: Just kidding, you can snag the toaster and the mixer at West Elm. But they are by no means a steal. Start saving those nickels and dimes right now!

I mean, just look how good they look in their natural habitats. (Also, this kitchen looks gorgeous, I must find more pictures.

As for price point, they seem to still be rolling these models out, so I’m not sure where you can buy them currently. However, I’m hoping that a toaster will be around regular toaster prices. It remains to be seen! In the meantime, BRB while I daydream about which colors would match my teal green kitchen the best.

What do you think? Awesome retro design or over-hyped?

60s Chic in Warby Parker’s Palm Canyon Collection

Like all style conscious girls, I love a good pair of specs. There’s nothing worse than not feeling like putting your contacts, but having no other choice. So I make sure I have choices, lots of them. Thanks to the Internet, the perfect pair of frames doesn’t have to set you back $600 at the eye doctor. Sites like Warby Parker have made it so easy to have a collection of frames instead of one pair that you have to wear until they break (we be-speckled ladies have all been there). BUT because it’s so easy, I’m also constantly shopping new frames and the one set I haven’t been able to find is the perfect brown/neutral pair. The time has come, my friends!

Today, Warby Parker released their Palm Canyon collection – a retro-luxe assortment of frames that will pull you right into your favorite episode of Mad Men. The pallet of browns, blacks, and tans make each pair the perfect neutral addition to your collection, but I am especially in love with the Duckworth in painted desert pictured above. Sophisticated, no?  I totally believe that you need a set – a neutral pair, a solid black, a bright and bold pair, and a fun pair that makes you feel great – and this pair would complete my set!
Of course, their new Palm Canyon collection features a whole new color spectrum for some of their classic styles in both eyeglasses and sunglasses (that winter sun can be brutal)! Check out some of the updated frames:

Full Disclosure: I do not work for Warby Parker and I did not get any money to write this post, but they did ask me to spread the word. I agreed because I love the brand and I adore the new collection. As you guys know, I’m a total sucker for anything reminiscent of mid-century style and that retro feel. These frames pull that all together and I’m definitely going to have to try on a pair. When I get my pick, expect an outfit post!

Which new color set is your favorite?

Tuesday Love: Nach Jewelry

Awesome jewelry collection alert! I’m drooling over Nach Jewelry. Each piece is a handmade out of porcelain and most of them are tiny animal figures. I love animal jewelry, it’s kind of sickness, so of course I was all over this pretty, colorful collection. If you’ve been following along, you know I’m a big fan of accessorizing and I love finding new pieces of jewelry because jewelry always fits and it can sit in a drawer for years and come out being a brand new on-trend piece. Perfect, no? The pieces are a little pricey for my budget, but they’re gorgeous and on my wish list for sure. I know I’ll be on the lookout for cheaper, knock off pieces in the stores this fall. Anyway, don’t take my word for it, check them out and tell me what you think in the comments!
