Oh heck yes, y’all. It’s been about a year since I last got to take a vacation and never have the boy and I been able to go on one together, so, needless to say, I am beyond excited that we get to do that soon! We’re going on a little week trip to Tennessee to check out Nashville and go camping in the great Smoky Mountains – with mountains…and bears. I’m a little nervous because it’s been years since I last went camping and never with anyone except my parents (and never where there were bear warnings!), but I’m really excited to get out of this stinky city for a while and see some mountains and waterfalls. Obviously, I’ve been planning and plotting what to wear and what to bring for weeks and I’m not bringing everything below, but I found some really cute camping gear as I was putting together my list. So, since I have camping on my mind, here are a few adorable camping themed thing I love!
So, I’ve been MIA a little while. A couple months is a little while, right? Well, I would love to say it was for a good reason, but really it was just because I was elbow deep in moving my blog to a new server. I hope you like the new look! I sure do. It should be easier to navigate and now that I can finally organize, I can focus on more tutorials, more style posts, and more vintage shopping!
Anyway, in honor of my bright, clean, pretty new blog, I thought I would do a clean, white, minimalist outfit post to go along with it. It’s probably going to become a yearly tradition for me to put up a post about wearing white in the summer time, but I will never get tired of it! It will just get more sophisticated in style as I do (or, you know, I will attempt to get more sophisticated in style).
You’re all a smart bunch of people, I’m sure it hasn’t escaped you by now that I love vintage and retro style and even sell my own finds on Etsy. Well, when the Internet first starting being a huge shopping hub (wow, that sentence makes me feel ancient even though this was probably only 10 years ago or so), it opened up a whole new world of vintage possibilities! I spent so much time searching online for the perfect 40s style dresses and rockabilly handbags. It was a sickness. Still is, I guess. However, back in those days, your options for true vintage and vintage reproduction were limited and pricey. I would drool over styles from Stop Staring! hoping that I could one day afford something from their collection. And I still do.
Of course, now the Internet has made it easier than ever to find vintage reproduction styles for any price range. It’s really nuts how easy it is and I find a new favorite site every day. The dress below is from a store in the UK called Voodoo Vixen that I just discovered a few months ago!
This past weekend I noticed that the trees were starting to bloom all over the city and I couldn’t have screamed more like a little girl. It’s official! We’re done with the dreary days of winter and moving to summer! When you live in the Midwest you’re never really sure that winter won’t come back and bite you in the ass in the middle of May, so I try not to get too excited until I see the trees turning green.
With that in mind, everything that caught my attention shopping around this week was light and colorful, like newly springing leaves. I’m in a mood to throw out all of my black and grey clothes, but I’ll hold off on that I guess. But there’s nothing better than shopping for sun dresses and open-toed shoes when you can actually start wearing them!
