Vintage Meets Modern Design: Styling a Vintage Coffee Table

We all do it, right? You find something you just have to have at a garage/estate/moving sale and you pick it up even though you have no idea how it’s going to work in your home. Okay, maybe that’s just me, because I have a serious shopping addiction. But, I know that I’ve had friends just fall in love with a piece of furniture and pass it up because they didn’t know how it would work with all their modern IKEA decor. Well, fear not, friends! Today I wanted to talk a little bit about styling vintage coffee tables with your modern day decor, because it is do-able and it can be fan-tastic!

*Coffee tables are one of most common items I hear people saying they don’t know how to style, but if you have a request for something, please leave it in the comments! I’ll try to get to it in my next post.

Interior Design: French Quarter Haven

I took my first trip ever to New Orleans this past January and those of you that have been before understand – wow. That’s the only word I can use to describe the vibrant and lively French Quarter. Not only is the neighborhood unlike anywhere else in the world for nightlife, but the immense amount of history is breathtaking. The blocks and homes look like they’ve been frozen in time and have this wonderful Spanish feel. And don’t even get me started on the colors! From pastel pink to mint green, you could find a condo in your favorite shade, no problem.

Obviously, as my friend and I walked through the neighborhoods (drink in hand, because you can do that there), we wondered how people lived there and what their homes were like. So when I stumbled across this home tour, I was so excited to find that the homes (at least this one) are exactly how I imagined them to be – intensely colorful and full of life, just like the city itself.

First Things to Consider When Decorating a Room

Hey all! Today’s post is a guest post from ECOS Paints. They are an eco-friendly paint company trusted by some major brands and with some great, modern colors to choose from. So when they contacted me to do a guest post about things you should check off your list before decorating a room, I thought it was a perfect fit. Check out their tips for room decorating below!

Interior design can be complicated. It requires artistic talent as well as plenty of strategic thinking. While a novice may think it can be done easily, you need to be careful. Not putting a lot of thought into decorating a room can create a hideous space that is hard to live in. There are five things you should consider first before forging ahead with an interior design project for a room.

Design Inspiration: Vintage Accent Chairs

I share a lot of interior design posts on here because I love looking at design, BUT I was, unfortunately, not gifted with an eye for it. So, designing my own space has been kind of an uphill battle. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it. I just try to tackle it one room at a time so that I don’t overwhelm myself. The apartment has come a long way, but I think there’s still work to be done.

One part of it that I’m constantly struggling with are these two vintage accent chairs that were gifted to me by my well-meaning, wonderful mother. I mean, have you talked to your mother recently and tried to tell her that something wasn’t your style? I couldn’t turn the chairs down, nor can I get rid of them.

Real Estate Stalking: Cute and Colorful Nashville Home

After my Tennessee vacation and little jaunt in Nashville, I saw so many cute neighborhoods and houses that I got curious and did some poking around on Zillow when I got back and I definitely found some really cute homes in really varying price ranges. Of course, while I was browsing I just happened to find my perfect dream home in Nashville! This place is beyond adorable, but for a kind of steep price tag of $255,000, it better some with all this cute furniture too.
